artist statement
Learning a different language can be a tough, but interesting process. In this case, digital art is the language I’ve been learning. I think my work as a digital artist deal with exploration or experimentation. The Stack of Chairs dealt with scanning objects and duplicating them to construct an obstacle. At first, I only worked with video. I was comfortable with the concept of jump cuts and transitions that appear throughout the ‘Memory’ video. Translation is the key concept of learning a language. I translate the world in my head to the computer screen. Every time I look at a screen, my brain starts to immediately predict what the results of my work would be. I bring my ideas of a piece to the screen, and the programs I use are a way of translating my work to life. My work often shows vibrant colors, it displays a sense of determination and positivity. Again, learning a language can be a process, but once you’re comfortable you’ll be able to show your skills with confidence. That’s how I feel when I do my work.
